Want to run a half marathon? Start! Training
Posted @ Mar. 30 2011 12:55PM by Ethan - arts-entertainmentAre you that person who promises yourself to sign up for your first long-distance race, but accidentally lets the deadline pass? Maybe you forgo your training because you don't want to do it alone. Perhaps you're on the other end of the spectrum, a seasoned runner who's been in several different races, but you're looking to meet some new running mates. The American Heart Association introduces Start! Training, a team half marathon training and fundraising program for people of all abilities. It doesn't matter if you prefer to walk or run like the wind, Start! Training has something for everyone. As a member of the program, you will be able to take part in weekly group trainings while you raise a minimum of $500 for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
No previous experience is necessary. As a participant of the program you will have:
*Comprehensive training schedule and group training sessions.
*Three months of supervised coaching by experienced coaches.
*Team gear given upon fundraising benchmarks
*Advice on nutrition, injury prevention and fitness topics
*Fundraising material, ideas and support
*Team camaraderie, events and activities
