Project Athena Sends Women Survivors of Medical, Traumatic Setbacks on Their Dream Adventure
Posted @ Aug. 23 2011 10:45AM by Lauren - health-beautyWashington’s lush landscapes enable an active lifestyle set against nature’s best. The outdoors have become such an integral part of who we are that it’s easy to take hiking Cougar Mountain and strolling along Lake Washington for granted. But factor in a double hip replacement, an autoimmune deficiency, chronic kidney disease, cancer or suffering from severe emotional trauma and such pastimes become distant memories.
For women who wage these battles within, Project Athena Foundation invites you to come forward and fight back.
The charitable organization was founded to help women who have been knocked down get up with more strength than ever before, and on October 1, these brave women, these “Athenas” will be celebrated. Marymoor Park is the hub of the Project Athena Race Series -- a 10k run, a team scavenger-style hike and an obstacle course kids dash.
