Mercer Island Mix: Demitri's Makes a Mean Bloody Mary

Bloody Marys have always been one of my favorite cocktails to make at home, but they're not one of the best to order out at a bar. Flavors can be inconsistent, either too much tomato juice and not enough spice, or they're just jam-packed full of salt and overflowing  with what seems like a garden salad sprouting out the mouth of the glass.

Apparently Demitri Pallis felt the same way. The Mercer Island resident created a super secret Bloody Mary mix of natural ingredients in his days working for New Orleans Restaurant in Seattle's Pioneer Square. The mix became so popular, Pallis started making it for other bartenders, Demetri's All Natural Bloody Mary Seasoning was born, and the popularity of the product snowballed into national cocktail prominence.

You can get Demitri's All Natural Bloody Mary Seasoning in four different flavors: Classic Recipe, Extra Horseradish, Chilies and Peppers and Chipotle-Habanero, which has some serious heat to it. The bold flavors of Chipotle Habanero actually work pretty well as a hot sauce. I tried them on some home-made tacos and the sacue gave it a tasty kick.

Demitri's also offers a few Bloody Mary accoutrements, including a salt rim shot, bacon salt rim shot (!!!) and spicy beans. There's even Bloody Mary merch, if you're into that sort of thing.

Try Demetri's for yourself. It's found at stores all over the Eastside and Seattle. Click here if you want a screaming deal on Demetri's Bloody Mary Mix. This deal gives you a sampler pack of Demitri's Bloody Mary--one 8 ounce bottle of each of Demetri's flavors for $25 (a $50 value).

Happy shopping (and drinking).
