The List: Kyle DeToure

Kyle DeToure doesn’t care what you think about Madonna. He loves her. “She gets to do whatever she wants,” he said. Strong, stylish women have long been muses for the hairstylist. In the early ’80s, when Olivia Newton-John was starring in Xanadu and singing “Let’s Get Physical,” he thought to himself, “Oh my gosh, that’s my girlfriend.” Since then, DeToure has become a bit of a local celebrity. Instagram videos of him styling hair at Sorella have attracted more than 19,000 followers. See him in action at @kyle_detoure. — Lauren Foster

 Q&A

How would you describe your style?
Simple, tailored, with designer accessories.

What hairstyle will be trendy in fall?
Strong angular shapes and blunt sharp line bobs.

Is it true that you shouldn’t wash your hair every day?
Yes — I highly recommend not washing daily if you’ve had fresh balayage and colors. Your hair will hold the vibrancy and luster longer.

If you could do any celebrity’s hair, who would it be?
Olivia Newton-John. She was my first crush.
