3 to See: Pizza, Shakespeare, and Mercury

A Spark of Kindness

Spark Pizza will host two dinners to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention on Nov. 11. Owners Tony and Carolyn Scott invite the public to join them for “A Spark of Kindness” three course meal prepared by chef Kyle, with beer and wine provided. Thirty percent of the evening’s proceeds will benefit Youth Eastside Services and The Trevor Project, two Eastside organizations whose outreach, counseling, and prevention efforts are focused toward at-risk youth. Attendees can chose between two dinners, at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50, and available at Eventbrite.

Willpower: Shakespeare in Song

Join Pacific MusicWorks at Resonance at SOMA Towers for their monthly matinee show at 3 p.m. on Nov. 10, featuring songs inspired by Shakespeare. Joined by tenor Zach Finkelstein, the baroque group will perform works by Henry Purcell, Ignatius Sancho, Thomas Arne, and more. Cocktails and fingers foods will be available at the brunch-inspired bar. Tickets are $25 (bar service not included) and can be found at Eventbrite.

Mercury Viewing Party

This Monday will mark a rare astronomical phenomenon — Mercury will transit the sun, appearing as a visible black disk across its surface for several hours. The planet passes between the sun and the Earth just 13-14 times each century, and it won’t come around again until 2032. At Seattle’s Magnuson Park, stargazers can head to a free viewing party put on by Cloud Break Optics. With special solar telescopes, the public can view the planet cross directly in front of the sun, and even snap a photo with a smartphone adapter. The party begins at sunrise (7:04) and will last until the transit finishes at 10:04. More information atEventbrite.
