3 to See: Week of June 13

Take Dad to the Washington Brewer’s Festival

The annual Washington Brewer’s Festival is back at Redmond’s Marymoor Park, and this year, there will be more than 500 beers from 110 Washington breweries. The festival begins tomorrow and runs through June 16th, so get some tickets for you and your dad or the father figure in your life, and enjoy all our Evergreen state has to offer in the beer industry. Tickets include a tasting glass and 10 tasting tokens. Not a big beer fan? No problem. Wine and cider will also be on site, as well as food trucks and live music.

Show Your Rainbow Pride

Tukwila is hosting its first-ever pride festival to celebrate the “diverse and culture-fluid” city. The festival kicks off at 10 a.m. on June 15, and there will be tons of drag performances, live music, and a beer garden. If you have kiddos in tow, take them to the book reading with the author of Grandmother Fish.

How to Take Better Family Photos

Aren’t family photos fun? You start out with so much ambition, and by the time it’s over, everyone is in tears. Realistically, you just want one picture where everyone has their eyes open and isn’t scowling. To help give you an edge, The Sprouting Image is hosting a family photo class from 10 to 11 a.m. on June 15 at the Bellevue Botanical Garden. The instructor will run through some of the basics, including aperture, shutter speed, composition, and lighting. Once you know some photography 101 skills, family photos will feel a little breezier — even if the kids are less than thrilled. You can bring your own camera, but extras will be available.
