The 27th annual Auction of Washington Wines (AWW) on Aug. 14-16 in Woodinville raised $1.8 million for uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Washington State University’s Viticulture & Enology Program.

More than 2,500 guests flocked to Chateau Ste. Michelle for the annual event and participated in the weekend activities including the Picnic & Barrel Auction, Winemaker Dinner Series, Wine Gala and The Columbia Winery Charity 10k Race, 5k Run/Walk and Kids Dash.

One major success was the Barrel Auction. The event raised a record breaking $93,000, which is an increase of $21,000 from 2013. The coveted Chairman’s Package, donated by AWW’s co-chairs Frank and Charlene Blethen of The Seattle Times and Marty and Megan Clubb of L’Ecole N° 41 winery, sold for $31,500 $18,000.

“We are thrilled that through all this celebration, funds raised benefit the uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital as well as future winemakers of our region through Washington State University,” said AWW Executive Director Aimee Sheridan.

The fundraising excitement continues with a buy-in for a Walla Walla wine country trip that includes activities and dinners in the vineyards and wineries for $2,500 per couple. For more information, visit www.auctionofwashingtonwines.org
