A Barnes & Noble bookstore officially opened in The Village at Totem Lake in Kirkland today. It’s the first Barnes & Noble store to open in the Seattle area in 14 years, per a press release from the company.
“Barnes & Noble is so pleased to be opening new bookstores again. This new store at Kirkland is an especially beautiful one,” James Daunt, Barnes & Noble CEO, said in the release.
According to the release, Barnes & Noble encourages each store’s team to curate its own bookstore — something that won’t change in Kirkland. The Kirkland store has a strong children’s section, a large area devoted to young adult titles and to manga, as well as the traditional sections in fiction and non-fiction hardcovers. The store also has a comfortable café with local specialties such as Seattle Chocolates alongside its customary Starbucks offering.
“We are so excited to open our new Barnes & Noble in The Village at Totem Lake in Kirkland. Our new store is warm and inviting, with a very contemporary feeling. It truly encompasses everything I look for in a bookstore,” store manager Dave Rossiter said in the release. “It is my hope that this store will become a spot where locals can come and be assured that they will find their next great read. I am sure that between the beauty of the new shop, the fantastic selection, and my team’s knowledge and experience in the trade, book lovers are going to be thrilled.”
