BECU, a nonprofit credit union based in Tukwila, Washington, is accepting applications for its annual education scholarships. Available through The BECU Foundation — which embodies the credit union’s philosophy of “people helping people” — these scholarships are available to full-time high school seniors and undergrads who are currently enrolled in any accredited technical, two-year, or four-year college or university.
Since the foundation’s establishment in 1995, BECU has given more than $2.2 million in scholarship money, helping 950 students achieve their academic goals. This year, a minimum of 25 $2,500 scholarships will be awarded, all of which will be renewable for two years. That’s $5,000 dollars for at least 25 students that can be used to offset the cost of college.
Strong applicants are students who have a genuine passion for helping others, and who have demonstrated this quality through service in their schools or communities. Also important are a student’s leadership potential and academic achievements. Applicants must be BECU members and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to apply.
For more information on eligibility and application process, visit BECU’s website. Applications are open now and will be accepted through February 28, 2018.
