If you are a Bellevue College (BC) student, it’s your lucky day. BC has announced a new way to encourage students to get vaccinated before the fall of 2021: student scholarships.
The Washington State COVID-19 Vaccination Program is joining forces with the Bellevue College Foundation to fund scholarships ranging from $250 to $400 for students who are vaccinated.
The foundation hopes to award 50 scholarships with $250 granted to randomly selected students who were vaccinated before June 30. Students who are vaccinated between July 1 and July 22 could be awarded a $400 scholarship.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Washington State COVID-19 Vaccination Incentive Program to get even more members of our community vaccinated,” Rebecca Chawgo, executive director of the Bellevue College Foundation, said in a press release. “We’ve all sacrificed so much to keep our campus safe, and while we celebrate the reopening of the state, the emergence of new and more transmissible variants is a reminder that we can’t let our guard down yet. Vaccination is the best way to maintain our health, and the health of our friends, family, and neighbors.”
Students are eligible if they completed six or more academic credits during the 2021 Spring Quarter, are enrolled in classes for the 2021 Fall Quarter, and showed documentation of at least one vaccination shot. Rather than applying for the scholarship program, students who demonstrate that they meet the criteria will automatically be considered.
