On Saturday, Jan. 10, Haystack Antiques in Bellevue will host an appraisal fair at the store with three appraisers from every vintage junkie’s favorite T.V. show — Antiques Roadshow.
The appraisal fair is from 10am to 12pm and customers are invited to bring in one or two items to be appraised — for free — courtesy of Haystack. (You have more than two? You can get the items appraised for a fee.)
Owner Debbie Nordstrom encourages people bring in family heirlooms and treasure hunting finds of which you’d like to know the origins and history of and/or the value. With skilled appraisers on hand, items of any particular era or type are welcome.
It’s literally going to be like a live episode of Antiques Roadshow, but instead of watching from your couch, you get to be part of the action. Maybe you will be the one who says; “Oh my gosh! Great grandma’s old porcelain doll she bought for 25 cents is worth $10,000?” Of course, your mother may have always said, “Anything from your great grandma is priceless.” But fingers crossed that dusty, creepy doll is worth big money.
The store will be open during the appraisal fair and guests without items to appraise are welcome to shop for treasures and watch the appraisals and parade of awesome finds that will be brought to the store to be inspected.
Haystack Antiques is located at 144 105th Ave., N.E. in Bellevue and is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-6pm, and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm.
