February is a month of love, which is the perfect time to open your heart to help prevent homelessness and hunger in Bellevue families. As of December 2018, 26 out of 28 Bellevue schools have students experiencing homelessness. 3500 Bellevue kids are living in poverty and 300 are experiencing homelessness. Bellevue children experience many forms of homelessness – living in a hotel or motel, staying in a shelter, doubled-up with another family, or living outside in cars or tents. The ONE HEART ONE COMMUNITY event is a signature evening to honor and support these families, raise awareness about the mission and work of Bellevue LifeSpring, and help raise funds to save lives.
“Transitioning out of homelessness is incredibly difficult. For families on the cusp of losing their home due to one bad financial month, Bellevue LifeSpring can make all the difference by helping a family avoid eviction. The importance of this kind of help for our families cannot be overstated.” – Dr. Ivan Duran, Superintendent for the Bellevue School District.
