Nothing beckons curling up with a good book like a cold Washington winter. But, if you’re looking for something with a little more oomph, University Book Store locations across the Eastside are hosting events perfect for discovering new reads (just in time for holiday gift giving), bringing out your inner author, and much more. Join University Book Store’s Bellevue and Mill Creek locations for these fun, informative and free events throughout the month of December.
On Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6:30pm, you can visit University Book Store’s Bellevue location for Short Story Society. Guests will enjoy holiday stories by the fireside during dramatic readings narrated by University Book Store booksellers. Enjoy wine, seasonal hors d’oeuvres, and holiday inspired stories during this adult friendly book reading.
Or, head to the Mill Creek location where Robyn Lynn will be facilitating a fun and free creative writing group. Ideal for writers needing a nudge of inspiration, participants will enjoy writing along to provided prompts and sharing their stories aloud with the group. Robyn Lynn’s creative writing group takes place on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6:30pm.
If you’re looking to bulk up your book collection or are still in search of holiday gift ideas, the Bellevue University Book Store staff has you covered. On Monday, Dec. 9, at 6:30pm, staff members will share 40 book ideas, perfect for gifting or adding to your own reading list.
After loading up on some new reads during 40 book ideas, head to Bellevue’s Open Window School where author Christine Gross-Loh will discuss themes from her book, “Parenting Without Borders.” A look into how parenting practices vary from culture-to-culture, “Parenting Without Borders” explores how different cultures cultivate and influence children, and how parents can learn the secrets to raising strong and capable children by developing a cornucopia of internationally influenced parenting practices.
For the little ones, both the Mill Creek and Bellevue locations will be hosting Santa Story Time. Join Mill Creek on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 11am, or Bellevue on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 11am, and enjoy dramatic readings of holiday inspired children’s stories, accompanied by provided refreshments.
