When we think of the communities that reside on the Eastside of Lake Washington, Bellevue and Kirkland often first come to mind. However, there are many other communities that reside on the Eastside of the lake. The Points Communities: Medina, Hunts Point and Yarrow Point – were among the earliest places settled on the Eastside, and evolved very differently from the surrounding areas of Bellevue and Kirkland. Their terrain made them less suited to agriculture, and convenient ferry service stations to Seattle. This would result in them evolving early into sought after locations for summer homes, large estates and commuter suburbs.

Discover how the Points Communities assumed their unique place on the Eastside, and in the region at this Heritage Program event with former Mayor of Medina, and Eastside Heritage Center Board Member, Mike Luis. Mike is a third generation resident of Medina who lives in his grandparents 100 year old Medina home, and has published community histories of the Points Communities in his books, “Hunts Point” and “Medina,” with Arcadia Publishing.
