Plan Thanksgiving at Mount Rainier
Have you ever thought of spending Turkey Day at Mount Rainier? Here are some ideas to bring the Mountain into your plans this year:
Crystal Mountain (Sunrise) Side
Alta Crystal Resort’s is offering an “Eat & Stay” package. Stay four nights at the family-friendly resort at the base of the mountain and get Wednesday night free, plus a turkey or ham that is fully-cooked and ready to heat and eat. Additional activities include a crafts party, bonfires, a guided hike or snowshoe adventure and if you pick up a Christmas tree permit, you can go out and cut a tree to take home.
Enumclaw Winter Wine Walk
Stroll through cute Enumclaw Nov. 21 and sip wine, shop and nibble on appetizers with stunning Mount Rainier as the backdrop. Tickets are $30 and include 10 tastes.
Head to Ashford
At Mount Rainier’s Nisqually entrance is Ashford where Thanksgiving will be served buffet style at the National Park Inn at Longmire from noon to 6 p.m. Cost is $23.95, and $13.95 for kids 10 and under. Reservations are required.
All aboard the Santa Express! Beginning Nov. 28 on weekends through Dec. 21 you can take a ride on the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad with Santa. The adventure begins at Elbe and takes you through the woods as you sip cocoa and cookies with Jolly St. Nick. Bundle up and reserve your spot.
Walk in Off at Northwest Trek
Through Nov. 29, if you bring two or more non-perishable food items you can get a ticket into Northwest Trek for half-off. Food collected will benefit the Emergency Food Network.
