Feel Good Friday: Mother’s Day, Yao City Drive, and Water Activities

Have a Happy Mother’s Day

Don’t forget mom or that special mom figure in your life this Sunday, May 9. Several area restaurants are offering brunches and even special meals ready to take home or on a picnic. Or maybe you want to make your mom something special. We have a guide from 425‘s entertaining expert Monica Hart here.

Take a Stroll Down Yao City Drive in Bellevue

When you drive or walk along Main Street you might notice new street signs at 124th and 118th Avenues that read “Yao City Drive.” The new honorary street signs near the Bellevue Botanical Gardens were installed May 4 to pay tribute to Bellevue’s sister city relationship with Yao, Japan. The relationship spans 52 years. Yao has a sign honoring Bellevue, too. More here.

Hit the Water at Meydenbauer Bay Park

Do you head to local beaches and wish you were on the water with other kayakers or stand-up paddleboarders? You can take classes, tours, or simply try renting to see if you like it thanks to the REI Boathouse at Meydenbauer Bay in Bellevue. Single kayaks and SUP start at $29 and tandems kayaks are $39 for the first hour and $10 for every additional hour. The boathouse also is offering a six-person SUP & Floating Dock package.
