Feel Good Friday: Weddings, Field Trips, and Sunny Getaways

Take the Challenge

What if you dedicated 4 percent of your time every day to something you enjoyed? How would that change your mood? Your life? 4Perscent, a PNW-based candle company, offers hand-poured, natural, soy wax candles that stand as a reminder of the importance of a consistent self-care routine. Through its #4PERSCENTChallenge, the company encourages people to take part in any activity that makes them feel more balanced, from exercising to reading to taking a walk, for at least 4 percent of each day, which roughly equates to less than an hour. The company debuted during the height of COVID-19 and uses its platform to emphasize the importance of mental health and self-care. More here.

Love Always Wins

Eight lucky couples won micro-weddings and were married by actor Joel McHale Valentine’s weekend at the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle. Even the snow couldn’t stop the celebrations that were streamed live online, so friends and family could celebrate from afar. How dreamy!

School in a Vanagon?

Here’s a fun idea: rent a Peace Van and educate the kids on the road. Peace Vans rental manager Jess Harms developed the Adventure School Program. Renters receive adventure lesson plans for kiddos and suggestions on where to park and camp for safe destinations in Washington and Oregon. Talk about a cool field trip.

The Meal to Beat the Chill

This weekend is going to be wet and cold. We have a comforting recipe for vodka and bay beef bourguignon here. And you might want to make a loaf of (easy) crusty bread to go with it. Get that recipe here.

Chase the Sun

On our website this week a story from 2018 (we know!) started gaining traction again. It appears many people are dreaming about escaping this dreary weather and finding places to soak up the sun. Here’s the story about six sunny locations to chase away the winter blues. Make sure you are up to date with COVID-19 mandates and regulations before attempting a booking. Or at least take a scroll through the article and imagine being somewhere like Hawaii for a moment.
