It’s supposed to rain this weekend. But don’t fret, we found five reasons to get out of the house this weekend and have fun on the Eastside.
1. 5th Annual Redmond Bike Bash
It’s the party for people who like to bike! Whether you’re an avid biker or need to dust off those wheels the Redmond Bike Bash is the party for you. As part of Redmond’s Bike to Work Day, bikers will gather on May 20 for an afternoon of food, music, and bikes. The event takes place from 4-7 p.m. at the Redmond Central Connector Trail. After your ride, fuel up at the beer garden and one of the many food trucks. Then, talk shop at one of the bike shops, or take a class at the bike skill clinic.
2. Beer and Honey Pairing
Beer and honey may not be on your list of favorite food combos, but at Postdoc Brewing, they think it should be. On May 22, their Cicerone, Bobby Wood, is hosting a four-course dinner with honey-centric beer and food pairings. First up is toasted brioche with chevre, thyme, and Oregon wildflower honey, paired with Laurel’s Legacy Pale Ale. The other courses look just as delectable, so make sure to get your tickets soon!
3. Northwest Driftwood Art Show
Washington beaches are chock full of driftwood, and local artists love to gather it for their unique pieces. At the 53rd annual Northwest Driftwood Artists show, you can see some of the truly incredible sculptures that local artists have made from washed up driftwood. Over 120 sculptures will be on display, offering a wide variety of unique artwork. The event takes place on May 21 and 22 at Bothell’s Country Village.
4. Aviation Day 5K
If running a 5K doesn’t get your heart beating fast enough, perhaps running alongside a live airport will do the trick. At the Aviation Day 5K, runners will get up close and personal with planes passing through the Historic Flight Foundation in Mukilteo. This inaugural event kicks off the 2016 Paine Field Aviation Day celebration on May 21 at 8:30 a.m. Stick around afterwards and enjoy the day’s activities, such as a pancake breakfast, Bomber flights, and flight demonstrations.
5. Shruti and Cry Presents Ina Mina Dika
Ina Mina Dika is back! The popular Bollywood music concert is making its way to Eastlake High School in Sammamish on May 21 at 5:30 p.m. After 20 years of playing top Bollywood Hits, the band Shruti is switching things up, adding some western numbers into their mix of classic and new Bollywood tunes.
