The growing appreciation for fine distilled spirits continues with Tequila 101, an intimate tasting event put together by Agave Cocina & Cantina on March 14 at 2 p.m. at the Kent Station restaurant. Owner Julian Ramos, who was born and raised near Tequila, Mexico, guides guests through a tasting of three to four sipping tequilas, paired appetizers, and a signature margarita. Ramos provides insight into the fascinating history of this storied and much-loved spirit; the harvest of the unique agave fruit; and its subsequent processing, distillation, and aging. The restaurant knows its tequilas, as more than 100 different types are available at Agave, but these event-worthy sipping tequilas possess the complexity of a fine Cognac. The tasting event in Kent has 20 seats available, and special events can be arranged; visit its website for details.
