K Banana Brings Korean Beauty Back to U Village

K Banana, a Korean-inspired beauty shop that took University Village by storm last summer as a pop-up venue, is back as a permanent storefront for year-round beauty.

“My friends and I have always loved trying new beauty products, and we kept finding amazing things when we would visit Korea,” said store founder Liz Kang Yates. “With the trend gaining momentum, I wanted to create a highly engaging experience while featuring a unique mix of products. K Banana’s spirit of intent is to create a place of discovery with beautiful things and to share them with everyone.”

The new 650-square-foot store, which opened in May, features a signature K Banana vending machine wall displaying 150 different types of K-beauty face masks from brands like Dr. Jart, Knours, and A’Pieu. The interior features playful, hand-painted murals by local artist Jesse Brown to complement the custom fixtures created by designer Austin Hicks. Shoppers also will find a BIY (Beauty It Yourself) gifting station featuring travel-size K-beauty products, accessories, and candy to create personalized gifts.

In addition to bringing back cult favorites from brands like Too Cool for School and IPKN, the shop also added new products to the assortment, including face masks from Helloganic and makeup by Peripera. It is also one of the first in the United States to carry products from BTS, the new makeup and skincare line from the K-Pop boy band sensation.

The shop is located at 2621 N.E. Village Lane. To learn more, visit hellokbanana.com.
