When I was recently in Chicago for my first visit to KBIS, the Kitchen & Bath industry’s main event to showcase innovation and product introductions I noticed a lot of new products dedicated to the reduction of energy and water usage.
Companies know that people are looking to save money on their utility bills. Here are some cool new products that will make saving energy easier – and more stylish.
Toto’s new toilet is a wall-hung, dual flush toilet that only used .9 gallons on a light flush and 1.28 gallons on a full flush. The industry standard for a low flow toilet is 1.6 gallons so this uses considerably less water.
Delta has enhanced its H2O Kinetic Technology to create a shower experience that blankets the body while using less water. It creates large droplets that retain heat longer so you save money on water (1.5 gallons vs. 2.5 gallons per minute) and less energy to keep the water warm. The demonstration in their showroom was impressive as the water seemed to dance in the shower.
BreezeDry demonstrated a unique clothes drying appliance that fits inside a cabinet. It allows you to choose between natural or eco-friendly outdoor air options to dry your clothes using almost 90% less than conventional dryers. And it prolongs the life of your clothes. I actually smelled the clothes dried this way and it reminded me of clothes that are line-dried outside.
BRING ON THE COLOR
Another trend I noticed was more color options. For instance, Kohler has a cast-iron kitchen sink line called Brookfield that comes in Ember (orange-red), Basalt (blue-green), and even Iron Cobalt (yes, it’s bright cobalt blue). And it’s made from 80 percent recycled material.
Delta has a new pull-down faucet line called Fuse that comes in red/stainless steel as well as blue/stainless and black/stainless. It’s a little more fun and can add an interesting design twist in the right kitchen.
The new finish from Brizo is Stainless & Cocoa Bronze. Some of the products in their more contemporary line come in this exciting new finish that is primarily a dark matte cocoa with stainless accents.
Rohl just introduced a new sink color called Stainless Copper. It’s a stainless steel sink that has a soft, copper glow and is quite beautiful.
