The Redmond City Council will participate in the Eastside’s Month of Concern for the Hungry this year by hosting a food drive on Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23 from 10-4pm at the Bella Bottega QFC. Council members will roll up their sleeves and ask shoppers to donate much-needed canned goods, such as vegetables, soups, and beans. These donations help local food banks (of which many are experiencing significant funding cuts) meet increasing needs for food assistance. The Month of Caring Food Drive is a part of a community-wide effort, with neighboring communities Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, Mercer Island, and Sammamish participating as well.
Mayor John Marchione encourages everyone to stop by, donate food, or even consider hosting a food drive of their own this month, saying, “A food drive is a great Employer-Employee effort, as well as a great School or Neighborhood effort to show you care.”
All food collected will be delivered to Hopelink.
