Brooke Maynard-Perez knows her way around food. Her 10 years of experience in the industry are diverse: She’s graduated from culinary school, managed restaurants, worked in kitchens and bakeries, and earned her sommelier certification.
After gathering such a wide variety of experiences, Maynard-Perez decided two and a half years ago to start her own catering company with her husband, Thomas Perez. She wanted to create a company that focuses on customizing food and service toward the client while using local and seasonal ingredients.
“It’s so important to use fresh foods — every dish is only going to be as good as your worst ingredient,” Maynard-Perez said. “Everything in season is going to have a much better flavor, so we get creative with the ingredients that we have.”
That creativity is apparent on the small menu provided by Table that people can select from at ease for corporate events, weddings, and more. Popular dishes that stay on the menu include the crispy Brussels sprouts with a cider vinegar caramel and pickled shallots, which Maynard-Perez said plays with crunch, sweet, and acid in a surprising way.
The real imagination comes in, however, with the customization that Table is committed to providing at no extra cost.
“We want to bring out your personality and your style throughout the food; that’s just something that we love doing,” Maynard-Perez said. Some catering companies almost double the price of their services for a customization; Table charges the same whether your event is picked from its menu or highly personalized to your preferences.
Parties of 40 to 300 start at $65 per person, and parties under 40 start at $85 per person. Depending on the services that a client is looking for — if she wants to include appetizers, dessert, a late-night pretzel bar — prices can go up to $150 per person.
With Maynard-Perez’s background as a sommelier, drinks are taken care of as well: She can pair wines with each course of a meal or create signature cocktails based on a client’s preferences.
And to make special events as stress- and hassle-free as possible, Table also provides event planners that can work with parties up to 150 guests. For larger parties, Maynard-Perez recommends other local planners that she has worked with before and knows will provide quality services to match the food.
“We help in whatever way possible, because we’re there to make their day amazing,” Maynard-Perez said.
This accommodating, professional, and innovative mentality has consistently earned the catering company five-star reviews online and a loyal customer base — about 75 percent of which is on the Eastside.
“It’s all about developing that relationship with our clients and going above and beyond,” Maynard-Perez said. “If you’re working with us, we do everything we can to make it all about you.”
