Overlake Medical Center, in Kirkland, is now the only hospital in King County to offer a special, advanced treatment for asthma. According to the press release, bronchial thermoplasty, the advanced procedure Overlake now offers, “has been shown to result in 32 percent fewer severe asthma attacks, 84 percent fewer emergency room visits and 66 percent fewer lost days from work, school, and other activities due to asthma.”  The procedure is minimally invasive and helps to reduce or eliminate the need for daily medications.
