Flowers wilt, edible gifts get eaten, and toys eventually break. Instead, consider a gift that lasts, like a personalized Pike Place charm that will hang along the railing of the new Pike Place MarketFront Plaza. Or purchase a bronze hoof print that will adorn walkways throughout the market.
Proceeds from charm and print sales will go toward the $9 million in private funding that is still needed to complete the $73 million project. The rest of the funds have been provided by the city of Seattle, the Pike Place Market PDA, Washington state, and grants that benefit low-income housing.
The expansion, which is slated to open in summer 2017, will add more than 30,000-square-feet of public space, 12,000-square-feet of commercial and retail space, and 300 covered parking spaces. Additionally, the expansion will add a new neighborhood center as well as 40 low-income housing units for seniors.
For donors that wish to give a charm or print for the holidays, order by Dec 16 for a personalized holiday card to commemorate the gift.
