I love a good bridal shower. There’s so much excitement and anticipation in the air. The bride is glowing, the ladies are having fun and the champagne is flowing. When I get to host a bridal shower, it’s even more exciting.
This summer I threw a bridal shower for a dear friend of mine. I had introduced her to a family member — and the sparks flew. When they announced their engagement the first words out of my mouth were, “I’m throwing you a shower!”
I could not have been more excited to celebrate their upcoming wedding and to throw a party that would reflect what a fun couple they are and to preview their fun Palm Springs wedding. I chose bright colors, unexpected details and really good food.
Because the Northwest doesn’t have quite the same weather as the desert, it was necessary that I create our party inside. Pink ribbons strung across the ceiling created a canopy for the table below. Brightly colored lanterns clustered around the top of the chandelier and hung from pink ribbons throughout the room created an air of whimsy.
Continuing a color scheme is simple, once it’s defined. I ordered personalized napkins, fabulous cupcakes from Trophy Cupcakes inBellevueand found fabric to make into tablecloths — all in shades of pink and orange.
Creating lunch for ladies is often a challenge. Ladies’ lunches are always treated like a delicate affair, but I always end up leaving hungry. That’s why I always serve something a little more substantial.
