Rare and Well Done

Rare and Well Done will be an ultimate whiskey-lover’s experience presented by John Howie Steak on Nov. 7 at The Bravern event space in Bellevue. Some of the most rare and best in the world will be poured and paired with amazing bites. Tickets are $180-$430 each – but if you are a true whiskey aficionado, this event might be priceless (where else are you going to sample Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year American Bourbon Whiskey?) Distilleries will include: Buffalo Trace, Laphroaig, Michter’s, Blood Oath, Oban, Macallan, Stranahan’s, Westland, Highland Park, EH Taylor, Blanton’s, Maker’s Mark, Glenmorangie, Ardbeg, WhistlePig, Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve, Jack Daniel’s, Wild Turkey, Forty Creek, Johnnie Walker, Bushmill’s, Balvenie, Glenfiddich, Ezra B, Pendleton, Jameson, Glenlivet, and many more.

John Howie Steak will also pour tastes from its own private, premium collection of extremely rare and highly allocated spirits, including Michter’s Toasted Barrel, Charbay Hop Flavor II, WhistlePig Old World and A LOT more. Many are no longer available for purchase outside of the secondary markets.

John Howie Steak executive chef Mark Hipkiss will prepare fine bites that will perfectly pair with the featured whiskies. His menu will include smoked salmon bisque, wood-fired lamb chops, torchon d’ foie gras, American Waygu beef, Dungeness crab stuffed mushrooms, assorted charcuterie, duck breast with orange marmalade, pork tenderloin with black cherry Bourbon jam, Makers Mark Bourbon shakes, assorted chocolate truffles and much more.

There are a few Ultimate Experience tickets ($430) that will include ¼-ounce pours of the following five most extraordinary, extremely rare and most expensive whiskies in the world:

  • Glenfiddich 40 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky (2015 release),
  • Balvenie 40 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky (2012 release), Macallan
  • M 1824 Series Single Malt Scotch Whisky (2014 release)
  • Glenmorangie Pride 1981 28 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky (2010 release)
  • And Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year American Bourbon Whiskey (2014 release).

All ticket purchasers will receive a Glencairn keepsake tasting glass, a hand-rolled cigar by San Juan Cigar Company, and will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Maserati for a weekend.
