Salt & Straw introduced its Halloween-inspired Spooktacular Series of ice cream this month, and the flavors are positively shiver-inducing.

Creepy Crawly Critters

“Fall headfirst into a teeming, squirming world of Creepy Crawly Critters.”

Matcha ice cream dotted with zesty orange and real insects — dark chocolate covered crickets and coconut toffee-brittle mealworms. The “crittles,” as Salt & Straw calls them, are from an edible bug farm in California called Don Bugito.

The Great Candycopia

“A trick-or treat bag of candy turned inside out and jammed into an ice cream maker.”

Salted butterscotch ice cream filled with candy bar favorites like Twix, homemade Snickers, Heath bars, and peanut butter cups.

Dracula’s Blood Pudding

“This thrilling flavor is inspired by the classic Italian dessert ‘sanguinaccio dolce’—blood pudding sweeted with pork blood and chocolate.”

An ice cream flavored with warm spices, cream, and pig’s blood from Portland’s Nicky USA.

Mummy’s Pumpkin Spiced Potion (vegan)

“Picture a perfectly terrifying tomb turned into a tea shop, complete with gilded sarcophagus couches and a bandage-wrapped mummy.”

A complex take on the pumpkin spice latte with spices, dried pumpkin Psychocandy tea from August Tea steeped in coconut cream, and candied pumpkin bits.

Essence of Ghost

“At once creepy and delicious, each bite delivers a shrill set of flavors that are bitter, sweet, and slightly smoky.”

Sherbet made with cream, vanilla, black cocoa, and, of course, ghost.
