That’s the Spirit!

The number of craft distilleries in our area has grown and consumers now have more opportunities than ever to drink local spirits. Some have tasting rooms and others are simply working distilleries. Here are a few of our favorite picks from the 425.

1. Woodinville Whiskey Co.
The Eastside is nowhere near Kentucky but the folks at Woodinville Whiskey Co. certainly don’t care. These artisans of small-batch whiskey are offering vodka under the “Peabody Jones” label, too. Don’t miss Woodinville Whiskey Co.’s Age Your Own Whiskey Kit. Tasting room: Open Wednesday to Sunday, noon-5pm; tours at 4pm Friday-Sunday. woodinvillewhiskeyco.com

2. Skip Rock Distillers
What would you do with local Skagit Valley Yukon Gold potatoes? Mash ’em? Bake ’em? Skip Rock Distillers had a better idea — drink ’em. The full-bodied potato vodka has won several accolades, including 92 points and the International Review of Spirits Award: Gold Medal. Skip Rock also produces Headwaters Whiskey (a clear spirit), and new to the lineup are its Spiced Apple Liqueur, Blackberry Liqueur, Nocino (a walnut liqueur) and Rye Whiskey. Tasting room: 104 Ave. C., Snohomish, Mon.-Fri., noon-5pm, Sat., 11am-5pm, tours at 4pm or by appointment. skiprockdistillers.com
