- 1 cup bittersweet chocolate, chopped (chips work great, too)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 to 5 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Over medium-low heat, melt the chocolate slowly. Add cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
Slowly add the milk and vanilla, and stir. Start with 4 cups, and add more milk if desired. This is a party in a mug, so more chocolate, less milk is always my choice.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, but do not boil. Keep stirring.
Top with marshmallows or whipped cream; stir with cinnamon sticks if you like a little spice.
