You know that feeling after you’ve had an amazing facial … your skin glows, you look well-rested and perhaps a few years younger than when you walked in the door. Well the geniuses at Red Door Spa developed a line of products so you can continue your spa experience at home.
425 magazine recently had the opportunity to meet with Cornelia Zicu, Red Door Spa’s Global Chief Creative Officer. She travels around the world meeting with scientists and the like working to develop the most effective skincare products. The new Red Door Spa Professional skincare collection is the result of years of research and development.
And it’s fantastic.
“It truly is an extension of the spa experience that you can take home,” Zicu, a well-known Romanian aesthetician who owned and operated Cornelia Day Spa on Fifth Avenue in New York before joining Red Door Spas in 2008. “We’ve created a simple daily routine for everyone’s skin type.”
Miranda, the aesthetician at Red Door Spa at The Shops at The Bravern in Bellevue, evaluated my skin and asked me about my concerns and recommended products from the new line that would be most beneficial. I always thought I had normal skin, but Miranda educated me – showing me that my skin was actually pretty sensitive. The wrong products on my skin could do more harm than good. No more apricot scrub from the drugstore for me – instead she suggested The Red Door Spa Professional Pumpkin Enzyme Exfoliator. It smells as delicious as it sounds and works gently, but effectively, to remove dead skin cells that can dull your complexion. The Age Defense Multi-Peptide Eye Concentrate reduces puffiness and was so effective; I noticed the difference on first use.
The entire product line is only available at Red Door Spa. The best way to figure out what products are best for you is to book a facial so an aesthetician can evaluate your skin. Plus, the facials are absolutely divine – your face (and soul) will thank you. Product prices range from $24-$130.
Here are some other fun beauty secrets I learned when I met with Zicu and Miranda:
1. Get a facial every 6 to 8 weeks if you have the time and money. Or a minimum of four times a year, as the seasons (and your skin’s needs) change.
2. Don’t sleep in your makeup! You probably knew this, but it’s especially important to remove your mascara – sad lashes can really age you.
3. Don’t forget to put moisturizer and sunscreen on your lips and, neck, hands and ears! Wrinkles and droopy earlobes really age you – and ears are common places where skin cancer pops up because people often forget about them.
Red Door Spa is located at The Shops at The Bravern, 700 110th Ave. N.E., Bellevue.
