Two 19 year-old girls from Seattle are missing after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook Nepal on April 25. Bailey Meola and Sydney Schumacher were traveling alone on a girl’s excursion between high school and college. They were last seen between Kyanjin Gompa and Syabru Bensi on the Langtang Valley Trek. The area was hit by avalanches, rocks and landslides. Diane Schumacher told NBC News that she hasn’t heard from her daughter in over a week.
Meola’s parents started a webpage to raise money to send a private expedition team to go find the girls. The team left last night around 6:30pm. They plan to search medical camps and makeshift camps throughout the Valley. You can contribute to their fund here.
