Following the opening of the Seattle area’s first UNIQLO location in 2015, the global apparel retailer is heading to Tukwila. This spring, shoppers will find a 7,500 square-foot store full of UNIQLO’s unique and practical clothing lines in Southcenter Mall.
“We look forward to extending our presence in the Seattle area, a vibrant and fast-growing community that we have enjoyed calling home since opening our first store there in 2015,” said UNIQLO USA CEO Hiroshi Taki. “Southcenter is a thriving destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment, and we look forward to meeting the needs of our customers with unparalleled service and everyday essentials that are made for all.”
The store’s clothing lines, which are available to men, women, and children, are designed based on Japanese values of simplicity, quality, and longevity. LifeWear is the company’s commitment to selling functional and affordable clothing crafted to make its customers’ lives better. UNIQLO also carries products with innovative fabric technologies, such as Ultra-Light Down — warm jackets that pack neatly into a pouch — and AIRism — fabric that will dry quickly and resist odors.
Since opening its first Seattle-area location in Bellevue three years ago, UNIQLO has made itself an important part of the community by establishing programs to help under-served children and teens. The Bellevue store has an annual holiday giving campaign called A Warm Gesture, which invites children from the Boys and Girls Club to shop for winter clothing. The brand has also donated over 1,000 pieces of clothing to Compass Housing Alliance in Renton.
Today, UNIQLO, which opened its first store in Hiroshima in 1984, has over 1,900 locations worldwide. Visit the store’s website to check out their apparel and to get a fuller picture of their mission. Read more about the brand at 425 magazine here.
