Known for its award-winning Kur gin, Bothell-based Wildwood Spirits is diversifying its portfolio with additional options including Arande, a grappa made from Washington state-grown Chenin Blanc wine grapes. Co-owner and head distiller Erik Liedholm sourced 1,000 pounds of Chenin Blanc grape pomace from the Columbia Gorge, crushed at W.T. Vintners in Woodinville. The pomace was fermented and pot-distilled to capture the aromatic essence of the Chenin Blanc varietal that includes red apple and white flowers. The process yielded just 18 liters (about 24 bottles) of finished grappa. Arande, Swedish for “tribute” or “homage,” is available for purchase at the tasting room for $50, plus tax, or at wildwoodspiritsco.com.
