Woodinville Cut Shop, a funky new neighborhood restaurant and lounge, is now open on the Eastside.
The restaurant is “a new take on the classic American roadhouse,” combining an Americana-inspired menu with mid-century decor. Featured in the new space is a restaurant, bar, lounge, and beer garden complete with a rock waterfall and a fire pit.
But the Cut Shop’s founders, a team of veteran entrepreneurs made up of Mike Meckling (of Neumos, Runaway, and Barboza), Gabe Johnson (of Horses Cut Shop), and Megan Tweed (of Fainting Room Collective and Edelman), have much more in mind for their budding restaurant and lounge. What they envision is a movement.
“The Cut Shop mission is to stir community to action. ‘Community’ in our parents’ traditional sense of the word, and ‘action’ in the good-ol Smoky and the Bandit sense of the word,” the company said in a statement. “No respectable movement would be without a headquarters. Our place had to have soul, and it had to truly be a destination.”
It took the took the Cut Shop team four years to find the right building for their new establishment, now located at 12801 Northeast 175th Street in Woodinville, where McCorry’s on the Slough used to be. “When we saw the ‘for lease’ sign in front of McCorry’s on the Slough, it was true love,” the company told 425 magazine. “Not a day goes by that we don’t meet someone with great memories of this space. The vibe precedes us.”
The restaurant’s menu features made-from-scratch entrees like the double cut pork chop, the Cut Shop hamburger, and the road house steak. Starters include oysters Rockefeller, pimento cheese and crackers, and jalapeno and cheddar hush puppies. The Cut Shop also serves dessert, bar snacks, and food items for kids. (According to a statement from the company, “The Cut Shop is family friendly…until it isn’t.”)
Lunch is served on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner is served daily from 5 to 9 p.m., and late night food is offered until 11 p.m. Cocktail hour runs from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
And if you’re asking yourself, “What exactly is a cut shop?” Woodinville Cut Shop has an answer for you: “That’s for us to know, and for you to find out.”
